Uluwatu is situated in the village of Pecatu, the southwestern tip of Bali Island, a tourist attraction that is very, very famous. Pura Uluwatu which is located on the cliff is one of the major temples (Pura Sad Kahyangan) and is important in Bali. Waves at Pecatu Sea also very beautiful and is a frequent venue of an international surfing event. But besides all that, Uluwatu is also known as Kecak and fire dance which is
performed only once a day just before sunset.
For some people, that third reason is the main reason to visit Uluwatu. A visit to the temple was eventually adjusted to the time of Kecak dance performances.
Kecak Dance is a traditional Balinese dance. On the stage, it not uses musical instruments at all. Only the repetitive sound generated from the mouths of the dancers who accompany all performances. Kecak Dance at Uluwatu has been made more interesting by incorporating elements of the Ramayana story. Like a typical Balinese traditional opera with a background very beautiful nature, bring the rhythm of the story more dramatic.
In order to get a strategic position seating, the audience was willing to come sooner. With tickets being sold for IDR 75.000, – per person, the audience is free to choose where he would sit. If the weather is sunny, a beautiful sunset would be formed the solemn perfectly accompany the dance. But that day, Saturday, October 16, 2010, we were not lucky. The weather was overcast at the time. Black clouds covered the sky and cover the sun. Nevertheless, the majesty of Kecak Dance still can be perceived and fire show that indeed is story of the Ramayana, capable to amazed the audience.
Mentioned in the Ramayana that was delivered, Sitta, Rama’s wife was kidnapped by Ravana. And with assistance of Hanuman, Rama tries to free Sitta from the clutches of Ravana. But in his effort to help Sitta, Hanuman was captured and about to be burned. Because of his supernatural powers Hanuman, so he could extinguish the fire and escaped the assassination attempt. There was the location of the fire show.
The show which lasts approximately 1.5 hours, interspersed with humor and interaction between the players by spectators who were present to enliven the atmosphere. Laughter and clapping of the audience was flooded staging. And at the end of the gig, we were all given the opportunity to take pictures with the players.
It was an unforgettable show. The beauty of traditional Balinese dances performed by beautiful by the dancer, with a backdrop of natural beauty, brings special memories in the hearts of the spectators who came. Attempts to display a satisfying treat is the reason the development of tourism in Uluwatu in particular.
